    Dear Business Owner, Friend, and Neighbor,

    My name is Reagan Cortes, and I am the Founder/Treasurer of Graves Community Foundation Inc. The GCF’s sole mission is to raise funds to support and enhance activities for the teachers and students at Graves Elementary School.

    I am a local business owner, and my four children went to Meadowcreek High School. From 2011-2017, student athletes started living with my family because they would have been homeless. During this time, I saw that high school sports helped ground most of these student athletes; however, 95% of them struggled with their academics and core GPA which prevented them from going to college.

    When I registered my granddaughter for Kindergarten at Graves Elementary School, everything came to me full circle. The understanding that Early Childhood Education was the core of the learning block. Every structure must have a solid foundation. For a pyramid to be strong at the top, the concrete slab, the foundation must be solid at the base. The beginning is Early Childhood Education!

    With the Foundation’s help, with your help, the teachers can concentrate on teaching and the students will have a solid foundation of their A, B, C’s and 1, 2 and 3’s. If a student can start out “good” and “strong” at the beginning, then school is the place they will enjoy going to because they are already successful. Then, a different type of student will be entering Meadowcreek High School.
